Hengrave Hall wedding photographer
This post goes back to when I was the Hengrave Hall wedding photographer for Kiri & Tom. I had met Kiri & Tom when they were guests at another wedding I photographed in Nottinghamshire, so it was a real pleasure to see them again and to have been chosen as their wedding photographer.
It was an overcast but mild day in October when I made my way to what be one of my all time favourite venues. This tudor mansion is just a short distance from Bury St Edmunds.
The set up at Hengrave Hall means that whilst Kiri was getting ready in the bridal suite.Tom and the boys could get ready in a separate suite just along one of the corridors.
This is a perfect set up as it means I can flit from one set of preps to the other.
As a documentary wedding photographer, I prefer to work alone. This allows me to blend in more easily. It’s not often I get a chance to photograph the boys preps. In fairness, compared to the bridal preps they are usually a bit of a non event. On this occasion, some light relief was provided by the struggle with the cravats! Thankfully, they were sorted in the end.
Once the preps were over, Kiri made her way downstairs to the ballroom where the formal civil ceremony took place. After, everyone headed to the cute little church in the grounds of the hall, for a blessing of the marriage.
After the formalities were out of the way, guests made their way to the lawned garden for a spot of croquet, table tennis and other garden games. Throughout, a musical background was provided by harpist, Rebecca Barnes.
Whilst guest chatted and enjoyed the weak sunshine, I took Kiri & Tom for a few “romantic couple shots”. As ever, these were shot with the minimum of fuss allowing the bride and groom to get back to their guests. You can read more about my approach to the couple session in the about my style section.
The happy atmosphere of the day continued as guests made their way into the dining hall for the wedding breakfast andsome great speeches.
After the Kiri & Tom’s first dance I again ” borrowed” the couple for a few more portraits before the evening gave way to dancng and partying.
If would like to consider me as your Hengave Hall wedding photographer please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
