A Broome Wedding
It was a beautiful day as I headed to the South Norfolk village for Kat & Pete’s Broome wedding.
Their Broome wedding was to take place in the village church followed by a reception at the family home.
For me,there is something particularly special about this kind of wedding reception. They are, by nature, exclusive and always have a joyously relaxed vibe about them. Just close friends and family enjoying each other’s company. Kat & Pete’s was no exception.
I started my day at the family home for the bridal preps and arrived early enough to catch the finishing touches being added to the cake by Kat’s sister. Another personal touch to the day.
After a while I headed over to the boys’ preparation, however, as is usually the case, the boys were already dressed and enjoying a beer in the sunshine. Gifts were opened and the button holes attached, before we then headed off to a favourite local hostelry, where a few more refreshments were imbibed!!
I left the boys to it and headed up to the church where the Broome wedding was to take place. I like to arrive early as it give me the opportunity to add some ” scene setting” shots to the collection. The church is quite unusual in that it is situated well out of the village along a track through fields. The church, set high on the hill, offered some fantastic light to photograph the ceremony in. The service was conducted by, perhaps, the world’s youngest vicar!
After the wedding ceremony, Kat, Pete and I spent a few minutes making some couple portraits at the nearby heath. Afterwards we returned to the family home for a fantastic afternoon of sunshine and music. As a live music lover, I was in my element. During the afternoon a semi acoustic set was provided by the excellent X-Men. I have seen them before at wedding receptions so knew we were in for some good stuff. As ever they didn’t disappoint.
After a BBQ meal and speeches, the evening got underway with the day’s second band. Georgia Falls, who were new to me, got the evening underway playing the first dance for Kat & Pete. Another band I woulld recommend.
I had been recommended to Kat & Pete by a previous bride and groom, so it was a real treat to catch up with Amy & Dan again.
Friends and family of Kat & Pete can see the full set of wedding photographs in their gallery.
